PET-Xi programmes

GCSE English Literature Topic Focus

Targeted GCSE English Literature intervention that turns close reading and analysis into exam marks.

Marks where they matter most

English Literature rewards students who can read closely, argue clearly and write about texts with confidence — and that is exactly where many lose marks. PET-Xi English Literature Topic Focus is built to target those gaps. We work with your school to identify where your cohort needs the most help, whether that’s a particular set text, analysing language and structure, comparing texts or building a sustained argument, then deliver short, high-energy sessions that turn understanding into exam answers.

Our tutors know the exam-board content and the PET-Xi way of teaching: fast-paced, interactive and relentlessly focused on what the mark scheme rewards.

How it works

  • Diagnose — we look at where students are dropping marks, by text and by question type.
  • Focus — sessions concentrate on priority areas rather than re-covering every text.
  • Practise — students work through exam-style essays and the analytical techniques that secure the marks.
  • Build confidence — short, momentum-driven sessions that leave students feeling they can do it.

Designed around your timetable

Topic Focus is flexible by design. It can run as a series of in-school sessions, an intensive day, or a revision push in the run-up to exams. We work with your English department so sessions complement your own teaching rather than cut across it.

What you can expect

PET-Xi has delivered intensive subject intervention in schools for many years. Topic Focus brings that experience to GCSE English Literature, with sessions that are practical, well-paced and squarely aimed at exam performance.
